So what was his secret? Some rare coffee that has undergone an experimental processing? There\u2019s that, coming via an anaerobically fermented blend of Philippines Liberica and Colombia Eugenioides.<\/p>\n<p>But everyone at this stage of competition has some unheard of coffee. What Harris had that no one else did was <a href=\"https:\/\/thevault.ph\/products\/the-better-vessel-early-adopters?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAae7OyHPmeGl49FXXVn6iUv9y-5mVU1VW4eCKorfp_lBzrP4ke9FJCMQU7LS8g_aem_dKTuPUOI0Uau-sSnTeO5XQ\">The Better Vessel<\/a>. Created in part by Harris, The Better Vessel is a new barista tool that removes the crema from a shot of espresso, and it\u2019s on pre-sale now.<\/p>\n<p>While important to a shot, especially in competition, crema can impart bitterness. Thus, removing it would allow the sweetness to be more prevalent, improving the drinking experience for an espresso. Designed in collaboration with Harris&#8217;s then-14-year old son Liam and his coach, the renowned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/federicobp\/\">Federico Bolanos<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alquimiacoffee\/?hl=en\">Alquimia Coffee<\/a> (whom we interviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/sprudge.com\/world-barista-champion-coach-federico-bolanos-the-sprudge-interview-144102.html\">here<\/a>, when the number of WBC champions he coached was two), The Better Vessel made its debut on the World Barista stage this year, to much fanfare.<\/p>\n<p>It works as an intermediate vessel between pulling a shot and serving it. The espresso is pulled directly into The Better Vessel, which then sits atop the demitasse. According to Harris, because there is no crema, The Better Vessel allows cafes and home users alike to pull longer, higher extraction shots that would otherwise taste bad due to the added harshness of the crema.<\/p>\n<p>Currently on pre-sale for \u20b13,880 ($66 USD) on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thevault.ph\/products\/the-better-vessel-early-adopters?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAae7OyHPmeGl49FXXVn6iUv9y-5mVU1VW4eCKorfp_lBzrP4ke9FJCMQU7LS8g_aem_dKTuPUOI0Uau-sSnTeO5XQ\">Henry &amp; Sons website<\/a>, The Better Vessel is still a 3D printed prototype, but it is made of food-safe materials, \u201cfully functional and tested in professional settings.\u201d Once the injection-molded versions go into production, the early adopters who bought the 3D printed Better will receive an updated one for free.
